Film + Talk: Mellem drømme og minder

Efter visningen af 'Beutset' i Gloria Biograf den 19. juni forsætter vi, hvor filmen slipper, når filminstruktørerne Keiria Shishay, Nuno Boaventura og Patricia Bbaale Bandak snakker om vigtigheden af drømme og minder i afrikanske film.

Sammen vil de udforske filmens potentiale som et medie til at mindes, sørge, gøre modstand og forestille sig noget andet i kølvandet på kolonialisme og i grebet på fattigdom, fordrivelse og udnyttelse af arbejdskraft. Med rødder i afrikanske og afro-diasporiske erfaringer vil samtalen reflektere over den rolle som drømme, hukommelse og formel udforskning i forbindelse med temaer som migration, ulighed, teknologi og sorg, og ikke mindst spørge: På hvilke måder kan film fremkalde det, der blev slettet, spore det, der forbliver, og forestille sig det, der stadig er i vente?

Samtalen er modereret af Qwin Werle, der forsker, forfatter og PhD-studerende ved Københavns Universitets Institut for Kunst- og Kulturvidenskab. Deres forskning undersøger den radikale sorte fantasi med et særligt fokus på sort surrealisme i film og visuel kultur.

Billetter koster 95 kr. (80 kr. for unge under 30 år og pensionister) og inkluderer både filmvisning og talk.

The screening of the three films will be followed by a conversation between directors Keiria Shishay, Nuno Boaventura Miranda, and Patricia Bbaale Bandak.

Together, they will explore the potential of film as a medium for remembering, mourning, resisting, and imagining otherwise, in the wake of colonialism and in the grip of poverty, displacement, and exploitative labour. Rooted in African and Afro-diasporic experiences, the conversation will reflect on the role of dreams, memory, and formal experimentation in engaging themes of migration, inequality, technology and grief, and ask: In what ways can film evoke what was erased, trace what remains, and imagine what is still to come? “

The conversation will be moderated by Qwin Werle, who is a researcher, writer, organiser, and PhD fellow at the University of Copenhagen’s Department of Arts and Cultural Studies. Their research explores the Black Radical Imagination, with a focus on Black Surrealisms in film and visual culture.

Tickets are DKK 95 (DKK 80 for people under 30 years of age and pensioners) and includes both screening of the films and the conversation that follows.
